Ha! I laughed out loud when I read, "Is this what people feel like when they snort cocaine?" I often think if people were a bit more present in their day-to-day lives, they'd feel "high" more often than not. Thanks for writing! β‘
This all sounds amazing! Your sandwich description has my mouth watering. I can totally relate to all of these small wins. When I was traveling in France, simply asking for more credit to add to my little travel phone or ordering a train ticket felt like a HUGE deal. I think traveling makes us focus on those little survival tasks we take for granted because they're so effortless in our own language/country. But it makes us stay present and open to help from others which is hardly in short supply.
i love the way you talk about your struggles abroad β theyβre very relatable. when you were describing the nerves of ordering a sandwich and memorizing what to say on google translate, i felt a sense of peace knowing thatβs something you do too lol. i get in my head a lot when iβm doing things like that, telling myself i shouldnβt be nervous, but its reassuring to see that itβs normal to feel that way. iβm so proud of you for putting yourself out there and having the courage to travel and try new things. i canβt think of many other friends that would be brave enough to do what you are doing! living vicariously through you always π«Άπ»π«Άπ»π«Άπ»π«Άπ»
